NOTE MAKING TIPS
1. This question consists of an unseen passage of about 500 words and a student needs to –
  – give suitable title to the passage (not more than four words)
  – make notes on the passage, giving main headings (min 4 main headings)
  – sub-headings ( 3 or 4 to each main heading)
  – sub-sub-heading to each sub-heading (not mandatory)
  – minimum 4 abbreviations are the be used
  – Abbreviations used are to be explained in a table
  – write a summary of the passage (develop notes into a paragraph)
2. Title of the passage
  – Crisp and short – max four words
  – Complete sentence is not to be written
  – Relevant to theme of passage
  – It should begin with a capital letter
3. Note Making
  – Divide passage into four parts
  – Main heading for each part
   – four main headings are to be given
   – use short titles for each subheading
   – not to be full sentences
   – use abbreviations like rqd for required, edu. for education, > for greater than
  – Sub headings
   – three sub headings for each main heading
   – these are to be properly indented
   – These will represent total idea about the main heading
   – use short titles not a full sentence
   – use abbreviations
  – sub sub heading
   – Not mandatory
   – two sub sub headings for the sub heading
   – these are to be properly indented
   – These will represent total idea about the sub heading
   – use short titles not a full sentence
   – use abbreviations
  – Full form of abbreviations
   – At the end of note making draw a table
   – Write full form of each abbreviation used
   – Title of the table – Key to abbreviations
3. Summary
  – Write summary of the passage in about 80 to 100 words
  – Summary is to be written in one paragraph
  – Ensure that each main heading, sub heading and sub sub heading is included in the summary
  – Ensure that each abbreviation is used in its full form in summary
