A Trip to Shimla

(By Shikha, Class X – D)

On 16th July my father walks into the house and announces a trip to Shimla. He plans this trip to coincide with my holidays.

Early morning of 16th Aug, we are driving to Kalka railway station to board the toy train. This train is identified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. After a wonderful journey with picturesque beauty on either side of train, we reach Shimla. We take a taxi to drive to our hotel.

After a brief rest we start our leisurely walk along the Mall Road. Cool fresh breeze shimmying my hair is an experience to remember. We do boating in the lake before driving back to hotel.

Next morning we take a guide and hire horses to take us around. The ride in the woods is very adventurous. The valley from the highest point is looking like a lush green carpet and snow white clouds are floating around. Next day we go to Jakhu Temple and two other points.

After two days we return from there in a taxi directly to our home. The hair pin bends at times are very scary. I recommend that one should go to Shimla for two days.

Blood Donation Camp

(By Editor, School Magazine)

On the occasion of Army Day a blood donation camp was organized in our school. This was organized with the help of Red Cross Society of the city.

A person should be of 17years age to donate blood. Therefore students were not allowed to donate blood. Information to every parent was sent about the activity. I am happy to inform that 187 parents turned up. Every teacher and staff of the school donated blood. Total donors for the camp were 219.

The team of Red Cross consisted of a qualified doctor and five nursing staff. Instruments to measure BP and Hemoglobin were with them. They set up five beds for donors of the blood.

Three persons having Hemoglobin below 10.5 were politely told not to donate blood. Every volunteer was required to sign a declaration that he / she was donating blood as per his / her own wish.

During the process of blood donation, pulse was regularly checked. BP was once again checked. A certificate of donation was given to every volunteer.

Red Cross team informed that this was the biggest camp of the year. Principal thanked the Red Cross team for supporting the school for a good cause.
